Waterslide decal.
To apply waterslide decals, start by ensuring the target surface is clean, dry, and smooth; for plastic items, apply a gloss clear coat first to help the decal adhere.
Preparation and Soaking
Cut the decal from the sheet.
Soak the decal in room temperature or lukewarm water for 5–60 seconds (depending on size) until it slides freely from the backing paper. Avoid hot water, which can dissolve the paper too quickly.
Slide the decal off the backing paper by gently pulling the paper away. Do not lift the decal with tweezers, as this causes it to curl and stick to itself.
Position the decal on the target surface, it can be repositioned if still wet.
Remove excess water by dabbing gently with a paper towel or soft sponge, working from the center outward to eliminate air bubbles.
Setting and Sealing
Dry the decal completely for at least 24 hours before applying any clear coat.
Seal with 2–3 thin mist coats of clear gloss or matte spray. For lacquers, use a thinned first coat to prevent dissolving the decal ink.
